Danish schools introduce classes of empathy
In Danish schools they understand that children not only need to know the alphabet and numbers, but that they also need to be able to perceive the feelings of themselves and others. They therefore included empathy lessons in the curriculum.
In Denmark, in addition to traditional subjects, students learn to understand their feelings, talk about their problems, and understand the problems of other people. Empathy classes were included in their schedules.
During the lessons, students talk about what bothers or pleases them and discuss their feelings with other pupils and teachers. If a student has a problem, he and his classmates try to find a solution.
Introducing such lessons into the school curriculum is a very important step in shaping the students‘ personalities. It is the school and the teachers who, together with their parents, are the ones who shape the child's personality.
Unfortunately, empathy is not an obvious property and many people lack it. It is the school that needs to be an institution that teaches children how to be a good person.
So how about introducing such a system in the Czech Republic? Are you in favor of adding subjects such as empathy to the school curriculum? What else do you think children in schools should learn? Write us your opinion in the comments!
